Will Warren is an Economic Development Consultant for Vita Nuova.
He is an expert in small community economic redevelopment and is an Appalachian Leadership Institute Fellow (Class of 2022-2023). This prestigious intensive leadership development program empowers participants to create change by overcoming economic challenges unique to the Appalachian region. His work experience is in both the public and nonprofit sectors at the local, regional, state, and federal levels, where he consistently creates economic and community development opportunities that result in increased job growth and generate business investment.
Mr. Warren has led economic development efforts across Appalachia, including eastern Kentucky, West Virginia, southern Ohio, and elsewhere. He is involved in training USEPA staff to help communities prepare for redevelopment and was the primary author of USEPA’s Creating a Brownfields Investment Package – a step-by-step resource for developing a prospectus for a brownfields site, which provides guidance for attracting investment in communities impacted by industrial dislocation.
Throughout his career, he has managed public and private development projects, brownfield redevelopment programs, and strategic planning processes. He has also developed economic and community development strategies for local and regional entities. Prior to economic development consulting, Mr. Warren was a Development and Finance Analyst for the City of Cleveland. He is also a Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) through the International Economic Development Council (IEDC).
