EPA’s RE-Powering America’s Land initiative encourages renewable energy development on current and formerly contaminated lands, landfills, and mine sites when such development aligns with the community’s vision for the site. Supporting this effort, Vita Nuova assisted the agency in updating its “BEST PRACTICES FOR SITING SOLAR PHOTOVOLTAICS ON MUNICIPAL SOLID WASTE LANDFILLS” document, specifically with the sections pertaining to feasibility, technology selection and design, anchoring systems, wind/snow loading and frost protection, and lightning protection and grounding.
Vita Nuova relied on its direct experience and significant network of solar development, construction, and operating companies to assemble the current and best practices in the industry. The resulting document is now the most frequently downloaded resource in EPA’s RE-Powering initiative.
